Barbour to Deliver State of the State

Gov. Haley Barbour will deliver the annual Mississippi State-of-the-State speech tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. from the state capitol. The speech will be broadcast live by Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

Viewers will likely hear Barbour laying out his proposed budget cuts that he originally proposed last November, including school district consolidation and combining the state's historically black colleges and universities.

With revenues falling below expectations for the past 16 months, Barbour has consistently called for doubling his ability to make cuts in the budget, from the current 5 percent to 10 percent.
