Commission Seeks Comments on Proposed Plant

Lynn Posey said the Public Service Commission has taken a proactive approach to auditing utility companies. He is running for re-election in the Central District.

The Mississippi Public Service Commission has announced its intention to take public comments tomorrow on the proposed $2.4 billion Mississippi Power generating plant in Kemper County. The PSC is in the process of establishing whether there is a need for the plant with hearings throughout the week.

Central District Service Commissioner Lynn Posey announced yesterday that the commission has set aside Friday to take comments from the public. Those wishing to testify should call his office at 1-800-356-6430 or send an e-mail to [e-mail missing]. Large groups are encouraged to designate a spokesperson.

Friday's hearing will begin at 9 a.m. in the Mississippi Public Service Commission Hearing Room, 1st Floor, Woolfolk State Office Building at 501 N. West St. Hearings are also being broadcast live at http://www.psc.state.ms.us/.
