Today we honor one of our own: new JFP event listings editor Latasha Willis. The best way you can honor Latasha? Send your events calendars for the next three months to her by next Tuesday, Dec. 1 at [e-mail missing].
Latasha is no stranger to JFP readers. She has long had a blog on the JFP Web site and has worked for the paper as an online copy editor. When we recently decided to increase then-listings editor Vince Falconi's Web-development duties, we tweeted the listings job opening, and Latasha quickly replied, ready to join us here in the JFP offices.
"I fell in love with the Jackson Free Press after reading my first paper in 2004, and I have held them in high regard ever since," she said. "I was honored to be given a blog four years ago, and I was also humbled to be given the opportunity to do copy editing for them for two years. Now that I am a member of the JFP family, I am the happiest that I have been in a long time, and I hope that I can make them proud."
A graduate of Tougaloo College and a Jackson native, Latasha is a perfect addition to the JFP teamand she is determined to get as much event information out to the public as possible. She hopes to build on the great foundation Vince laid in the job, reaching out to even more segments of the community. But she needs your help: Let us know about any and all events you are involved with. And most importantly, help us maintain the best events planner in the city by letting Latasha know about your events far in advance. If you have a fund-raiser planned for a date in October 2010, send it! (Or sign onto jfpevents.com and enter it yourself.) You can always "save the date" and add or send additional information later.
Latasha is also available by phone at 601-362-6121, ext. 19, and by fax at 601-510-9019.

Golden eagle you should! I was told that JFP contributers didn't qualify, but I suppose that's changed or I maybe I was just offered an untruth. Still and all, Latasha, fellow Tougalooian, congratulations darling. I have a huge pile of events to send to you. :-)

Who told you that, Queen? Adam has been person of the day, already. One just has to convince the editors here, and we do them every week day; it's not like there are no slots. ;-) Now, if it's a contributor who has been featured constantly, I can understand someone saying that it's not the right time. But I doubt someone purposed offered you an untruth, as you put. We're too busy to lie. ;-)

It wasn't anyone from your staff. Just words passing in the streets. No biggie.

That's what I figured, Queen. Didn't sound like something anyone who actually knows anything about the JFP would say. ;-)
