FOX: Palin Didn't Know Africa a Continent

The country sure did dodge a mighty bullet yesterday. All the off-the-record-until-after-the-election is now coming out about Gov. Sarah Palin, including that she didn't know what countries are in NAFTA, or that Africa was a continent. Read and watch the segment here. The wackiest part is that she is still viewed as a juicy Republican presidential candidate for 2012. Let's see if that lasts. If so, that party has deep issues. You simply cannot run a candidate who doesn't know the continents by the time she's in her 40s. Truly.

I'm hoping whoever said that Palin didn't know that Africa is a continent is exaggerating. She can't be that dumb, could she?

While I'm sure that the McCain campaign is all too eager to throw Palin under the bus to explain their loss, I can believe what Fox is reporting. She has displayed a surprising lack of knowledge about the world outside of AK during her time in the public eye.

This story could be sour grapes and a complete fabrication by bitter McCain staffers. But the one guy who could come out and call *bullshit* on this story is John McCain, and so far he ain't talking.

I really don't care much about Palin not knowing that Africa is a continent. What I did care about is the fact that McCain didn't know and didn't care that Palin was incompetent. He was willing to do/say anything for the presidency.

I thought her selection was the biggest pander job in recent memory. It was a classic twofer- they went for disaffected Hillary voters AND the hard right wackos, and it blew up in their faces. If you ask me, the crazy African exorcist guy leveled the Jeremiah Wright issue.

Palin will be on Greta VanSustern show on Fox news tonight to explain Troopergate, the Wasilla Hillbiily Shopping Spree, Continents and her plans for the future of America. Don't miss it. It's likely to be some funny and revealing stuff. Upon being asked why her husband Todd never talks, she joked "he's slower than a Palin running for high office."

Palin did interview as promised. As usual, she talked much and said little of any substance. She said the clothes weren't hers and wasilla hillbillies preferred wal mart duds. Those clothes caused her to act as if she was more than she is! At a very low or depressed moment, she said if she had just worn the high class clothes purchased by the GOP and kept her mouth shut more often no one would have known the the governor of Alaska is poorly educated, kind of slow up stairs, and doesn't care for blacks very much. When asked about the interview with Katie Couric she said that happened before she, McCain and the GOP knew she needed continual vetting and hiding from the public for her good and the good of the GOP. At another instance of unusual honesty that often occurrs after a traumatic loss of some kind, governor Palin said having beauty and sex appeal can often lead one to be passed on in school as if they know things they don't. She then cried out, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful and sexy. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so beautiful and sexy." When asked about her future plans politically she said she hoped she could keep her job as guvnor for right now and she worried her guvnering would receive more attention and questioning than in the past since the bias media have made her look kind of incompetent and slow. Needless to say, I was touched by her honesty and beauty and I wish her well.

I don't believe that kind of gotcha journalism, portraying gaffes as some kind of news about the intellectual power of candidates, anymore than I believe Obama thought there are actually 57 states.

*how did she become a governor*...Uh, look, they, uh, voted for a convicted felon...Clearly Alaskans are *mavericky* sorts. You betcha, they aren't swayed by eggheaded pundits and jury verdicts. Jeff makes a good point that I haven't heard any egghead pundits make. I have NOT heard anything from McCain to counter this stuff. His silence is loud. Wmartin makes a great point. I am happy that we probably have not seen the last of that Mav from Wasilla!

Whitley speaking of McCain, he was on Leno last night and said he's been sleeping like a baby since the campaign eneded, "sleeping 2 hours and waking up crying." He's a good jokester. I like the speech he gave in New York before all the Democrats at some type of fundraiser wherein he said that in the sea of Democrats he couldn't shake the idea that someone in the audience was pulling for him. He then said how are you doing, Hillary. I like McCain and would love to have him as a Democrat. I hadn't really paid him much attention before this run for the presidency. He's smart and direct. I'd trade Joe "turncoat" Lieberman any day for McCain. Speaking of Palin, she's all over the place speaking and doing television interviews. I wish she would go away for good. There ain't no way in hell that Americans deserve to hear that voice for 4 years or two. I hope her and Ted "hook me up" Stevens will go away. Stevens to jail though. My opinion of Alaska has dropped dramatically because of them. I think Palin should join Saturday Night Live and parody the lawyer guy who used to lie all the time but sweated profusely as a dead give away. Of course, Palin is blessed to lie easily without sweating outwardly. She only gets folksy, beauty-queen-like and rambles.
