Supreme Court to consider Cheney's secret task force

CBS Marketwatch is reporting: "The U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether the White House must reveal the energy-industry contacts that helped a task force headed by Vice President Dick Cheney formulate an energy policy blueprint in 2001. The high court on Monday said it would hear a White House appeal of a lower court ruling that ordered the Bush administration to hand over details of the task force meetings to Judicial Watch, a government watchdog group, and the Sierra Club, an environmental group."

Note that Judicial Watch is the ultra-conservative legal watchdog group that has been critical of the Bush administration on a regular basis, based on their belief that the Constitution is nonpartisan.

Gov. Elect Barbour has had his finger in a lot of high profile pies over the years. Articles mentioning him (in less than glowing tones) ought to be expected with regularity, always with mention of where he's trying to guide the pie-cutting now. He has made some mediatory moves; it's my sincere hope that this is more than just politics as usual, but my cynical heart has trouble buying it. That said, sometimes you just have have to look at the good that's done (and not worry about the motives) and thank God for it while praying the bad won't overshadow the good.
