The Auditorium in Fondren closed July 4.

The Auditorium, a Fondren restaurant and music venue, has closed temporarily as its owners develop a plan to re-open as an events space. The restaurant, located in the Duling School, closed July 4. Developer Mike Peters, who owns the Duling School property, told the Jackson Free Press today that the restaurant is "revamping."

"We're in the process of putting all that together, but it's going to revamp into special events, concerts, wedding receptions, large parties," Peters said.

Co-owner and Jackson attorney Mike Frascogna and his partners are still settling some details of the transition, such as whether the space will offer in-house catering. Peters said that the space would be available for rental "very shortly." The restaurant's owners will be hiring a new manager for the events business, Peters said.

"It's a great facility," Peters said. "It just needed to be revamped and not run as an everyday restaurant. It seems that that was what everyone wanted it for--large groups and special events."

Mike Frascogna was not immediately available for comment.
