Brookins Resigns, JRA Finalizing Iron Horse Deal

— Jason Brookins resigned from his position as Executive Director of the Jackson Redevelopment Authority today.

The quasi-governmental JRA handles a large portion of development projects for the city. It also owns and leases its own land, including the Jackson Place building and land on Farish Street.

The JRA board entered executive session to further discuss issues this morning. The Jackson Free Press could not reach the JRA at the time of publication to find out who will take Brookins' place.

Iron Horse Finalizing Deal

The JRA is closing on a deal this week with lead developer the Simpson Group on $2.5 million in urban renewal bonds for the construction of the new Iron Horse Grill.

The building will house the Iron Horse Grill restaurant and bar, a live music venue and a Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame.
