The Best In Sports In 7 Days

Doctor S sez: Ole Miss has strict standards on its football players' off-the-field behavior—unless you're a starting quarterback.

Thursday, Aug. 5
Southern League baseball, Mobile at Mississippi (7:05 p.m., Pearl, 103.9 FM): The M-Braves and the BayBears clash on a steamy Thirsty Thursday,
so you probably should drink more than usual.

Friday, Aug. 6
Major League baseball, San Francisco at Atlanta (6:30 p.m., CSS, 620 AM): The Braves and Giants meet in a potential playoff preview.

Saturday, Aug. 7
Southern League baseball, Mississippi at Birmingham (6:30 p.m., Birmingham, Ala., 103.9 FM): The M-Braves and Barons open a series in the Steel City. Go by and see Vulcan, guys, it's worth the trip.

Sunday, Aug. 8
NFL football, Hall of Fame Game, Dallas vs. Cincinnati (7 p.m., Ch. 3): America's Team faces America's Felons in a much-awaited meaningless exhibition. What's the point spread?

Monday, Aug. 9
Major League baseball, St. Louis at Cincinnati (6 p.m., ESPN): The Cardinals and Reds continue their battle for the NL Central crown. Sorry, Reds fans, but the Cardinals are going to win the division.

Tuesday, Aug. 10
International soccer, Brazil at U.S. (6 p.m., ESPN): The Americans and Brazilians meet in East Rutherford, N.J., in a friendly bout. Unfortunately for the U.S., the visitors will have more fans in the stadium.

Wednesday, Aug. 11
Southern League baseball, Mississippi at Birmingham (7:05 p.m., Birmingham, Ala., 103.9 FM): The M-Braves wrap up their road trip. A day later, you can see them at the yard.

The Slate is compiled by Doctor S, who's still trying to figure out how to work a "Kick Ass" joke into this week's article.
