A bird flu vaccination in the hand, is worth seven billion in the Bush

Bad title, I know. But do you see the many reasons that I just had to?

It seems Bush's strategy for fighting the bird flu pandemic is to hoard the drugs that reduces the chance the flu is going to kill you by a teeny wee bit, and then suspend all safety precautions for companies that create these drugs so that we get a faster product...

Hey, how about we give them enough time to make one that does not kill me. I'm willing to wait a few extra months for that. I'm not saying this drug is lethal. I'm just saying I can't get behind suspending the quality controls that are already so obviously stellar.

Beyond that, some nice person at work left a newspaper column called "Don't get your panties in a bunch over the bird flu" in my inbox the other day. This was after one of my infamous freak out rants that end with "We. Are. All. Going. To. Die."...or something like that.

Oh, that was a good article. Hold on, I'll find it.

Crap...I googled that and one of the first things that pops up is "Get Your Plastic Ass Out Of The Window". Damn. That freaked me out. You'll just have to take my word for it.

Anyway, I read this article and he made sense. It assuaged my fears about the bird flu. (Who just gave me points for word usage there?)

I guess it doesn't really help anything if I can't find the article that makes you feel better after posting an article which should scare you if only because you realize the man speaking about his strategy for the bird flu probably can't spell "strategy", not even if you bet Texas and God on it.

But, let's just say I think its going to be alright. So, um, don't worry.

That didn't really work for you, did it?

Ali, you're scaring me. But, bird flu is scarier. However, President Bush and his "a few billion here, a few billion there, and pretty soon we're talking about some real money" approach to "solving" bird flu and terrorism is the scariest thing ever.

I know, and I think he still plans for those tax cuts for the wealthy. Wonder where he's gonna get all that money? I guess we can be looking for cuts to basic social services. Lord, I hope my job makes it thru this presidency. Hell, I hope the underpriviledged masses make it thru this presidency. I'm still looking for that article to make you feel better. ;)
