On Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Randolph (pictured) assigned retired judge Lamar Pickard to hear the slander case that New Jerusalem Church Pastor Dwayne Pickett brought in Hinds County District Court against two City of Jackson council members in October. In November, the chief justice appointed retired Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Jess H. Dickinson to the lawsuit filed in Hinds County District Court by District 2 Supervisor David Archie against the Hinds County Board of Supervisors for voting to remove him as vice president.
