Stairway Back to Heaven

Some tribute bands are content with adequate recreations of legendary bands' original music. Not Zoso. The band not only wants to give the most accurate portrayal of Led Zeppelin, but also to recreate the atmosphere in which Zeppelin's star burned the brightest: the '70s.

Since the death of drummer John Bonham, the band effectively ceased operation and has only reunited on a handful of occasions since. Even those performances were more of a celebration than the authentic concert.

So we're left with the many tribute bands out there carrying on the name and music. Zoso formed in 1995 and has been perfecting its art for the past 18 years. The Los Angeles Times even went so far as to say that Zoso was "head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes."

As original Zeppelin members Robert Plant and Jimmy Page get older, Zoso may be a better representation of the classic band than the real thing, due to their commitment to the most precise execution of Led Zeppelin's masterworks.

Ardenland is bringing Zoso back to Jackson for the second time this year. "It's scary how good these guys are. I've never been a huge fan of tribute bands, but these guys play two to two and a half hours with no opening act and really do a great job," Arden Barnett says.

Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience performs at Duling Hall (622 Duling Ave.) Dec. 7 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at ardenland.net and $20 at the door. Visit zosoontour.com for more.
