A-1 Pallets Silent Protest Friday, July 27, from 10 AM to 12 PM

PROTEST THEME: "Leave A-1 Pallets Alone"

We will be on Mill St near A-1 Pallets. We will remain on the sidewalk and not stand on private property. If you wish to participate, please feel free to join in and bring a picket sign. Signs should says things that are related to the cause. No name calling, profanity or other personal attacks. I will have a few signs already made if you need one. I suggest coming 30 minutes early so we can all start together and on time.

I was thinking about burning a CD with a collection of songs for future events. One song that came to mind was "Wake Up Everybody". Remember that one? Here are two versions of it: Old School - Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes New School - Various Artists (Wyclef Jean, Brandy, Missy Elliott, etc.) I also have a couple others in mind: Time to Make a Change by the Winans Proud by Heather Small

Hi L.W. Thanks for your post with links to music. I am sorry to say I had never heard of Heather Small until I saw your post. I just ordered her CD "Proud" from Amazon....Great lyrics and Heather's voice has so much soul! This CD will be a great addition to my collection of music that I play in my movement class for women.. That's great, BKS. I first heard her song on The Biggest Loser, and she also sung it on Oprah. I may get her album, too. :-)

By the time I make it there, it'll be over. Well wishes, though.

Well, the protest was a success. Many people either participated or stopped by to show their support, and WLBT, WAPT, the C-L, and the JFP stopped by. Look for us on the news. I think there were about eight or nine of us holding signs, but I didn't count how many. I'm sure someone with the media has the number. Mr. and Mrs. Reeves were pleased with the turnout and appreciate the support. There were a couple of folks who drove by and had some negative things to say, but that's okay. They have a right to speak as much as we do. A-1 Pallets is on the agenda at the next City Hall meeting on Tuesday, July 31, at 10 AM. We can be out there again in front of City Hall that morning and/or sit in at the meeting (no signs inside, of course) if I can get enough people to show up. If you're interested if participating on Tuesday morning, email me at [email protected] so I can get an idea of how many people may come. You can also go to the Wake Up Jackson blog.

What sort of negative things were said L.W.? Just stuff like, "Y'all ought to be ashamed of yourselves standing out there with those signs! They need to tear that mess down!" Stuff like that. :-)
