Super Water Sympathy plays Ole Tavern Feb. 9.

This weekend, the band Super Water Sympathy will bring the genre of water pop to Jackson. "People should expect a full production effort where they can be transported to a vacation from their mind," guitarist Clyde Hargrove says.

Super Water Sympathy got its name from some early song lyrics that they wrote. The band--which includes Ansley Hughes on lead vocals, drummer Ryan Robinson, keyboardist Jason Mills and brothers Billy and Clyde Hargrove on bass and guitar--considers itself a "water pop" band because many of their songs were written near water. The music has "an ambient sound with dark undertones," Hargrove says. The members' uncanny and creative connection to water can even be seen in the band's videos, including in its newest video for the single, "Uh Oh." The band is inspired by the blues, rock and soul music from its members' hometown of Shreveport, La.

Currently, the band is promoting its new album, "Hydrogen Child," which comes out April 23. The band wrote the album while travelling through RV parks on the West Coast.

"We really think people will feel like they are really digesting our music. They may even lose consciousness," Hargrove says.

Super Water Sympathy performs at the Ole Tavern on George Street (416 George St., 601-960-2700) Feb. 9 at 10 p.m. For more information visit superwatersympathy.com.
