Volunteers can register online to help communities recover from flooding.

Several community and faith-based organizations are seeking volunteers to help 14 counties in Mississippi recovered from flooding.

The Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Serviced has launched a Flood Recovery Volunteer registration program to help connect organizations volunteers.

Individuals and volunteer groups interested in serving affected areas after flood waters recede may register online or call 888-353-1793. The commission works with local emergency managers in federally declared disaster counties to determine and address needs related to volunteers and donations management. In the weeks to come, pre-registered volunteers will receive notification of opportunities to serve Mississippi communities in need.

I registered online - not a whole lot of opportunities to volunteer around the Jackson area. How could we get more organizations in the state to use the site for finding volunteers?
