The City of Jackson will honor participants from its Homeless Transitional Job Program this afternoon. The 15 participants have completed the program and transitioned from homelessness to stable housing or employment.

"As a requirement during the program, participants were expected to be on time, conduct themselves in a professional manner by adhering to work-related policies, establish work ethics and maintain their current jobs," Director of Human and Cultural Services Michael Raff said in a statement. "Participants also received finance training, learned how the loan process operates and obtained bank accounts to help build credit."

The City of Jackson received $95,000 from a federal earmark grant to implement the program.

The awards ceremony is at 2 p.m. today at the Municipal Art Gallery (839 N. State St.). For more information, call Jackson Homelessness Coordinator Cathy Funches at 601-960-2178.
