Doctor S was MIA last weekend, but he's back on the job. The first order of business is what happened in state college football this week:

Mississippi State 19, Auburn 14: This is the fourth time in Sylvester Croom's four years that State has beaten an SEC team and twice now the Bulldogs have done it on the road. Go figure. Meanwhile, Sly says this was no upset. Not to you, maybe ... Speaking of upset, Auburn fans are venting.

Southern Miss 28, East Carolina 21: Jeremy Young scores with 32 seconds remaining to lift the Golden Eagles to victory in their CUSA opener.

Vanderbilt 31, Ole Miss 17: The Rebels end up singing the blues in Music City after their second straight loss.

Delta State 9, Henderson State 7: DSU won the game; then all hell broke loose.

Belhaven 55, Texas College 43: Matt Rich throws for six TDs as the Blazers roll to their first victory of the season at historic Newell Field.

Millsaps 43, Austin College 10: The Majors win their second straight and their ASC opener.

Mississippi College 34, Texas Lutheran 5: The Choctaws improve to 2-0 with a victory in their ASC opener. The MC defense is stout.

UAB 22, Alcorn State 0: The Braves fall to 0-3. Swayze Waters kicks a school-record five field goals for UAB.

Alabama A&M 45, Mississippi Valley State 14: The Delta Devils fall to 1-2. Next up: Jackson State.
Huntsville, Ala.

Jackson State 21, Texas Southern 10: The Tigers finally win one.
