[Jacktown] Of Remixes And Masterpieces

Well, Jackson, it's been a really long time. I have been busy trying to keep my wallet filled with Benjamins. But I'm back, and I have my ear to the street for the latest rumors and legitimate news in the Magnolia state.

Recently, one of Texas' Underground Kingz graced our fair city with his prescence. Bun B was in town promoting his new project, "Trill." He did the normal rounds and actually also did some recording with several artists around the city. The most notable recording session was a 16-bars he spit for Smoke D's long awaited project. From what I understand, the title has changed several times, and the latest incarnation is "Heaven or Hell." Does this recording session mean that Smoke's album is closer to seeing the light of day? You will have to wait and see.

According to sources, J Records is gearing up its promotional machine to push Boo Da Boss Playa's newest offering. The album, "Definition of a Hustler," features production by Swizz Beatz, Cool & Dre and Williams' in-house producer, 17-year-old Lil C. The album is set to be released in July.

Jackson OG Tony B is rumored to be going to and from ATL working on what some are calling a masterpiece. If you don't know Tony or his work, you are really slipping. He has been in the game for a minute, and his project is shaping up to make a real impact in Jackson.

Donnie Cross has been making moves recently. The self-proclaimed hater, "YES I AM. YES I AM" recently inked a distribution deal with iTunes for an undisclosed sum. Hey Dec, you won't even tell me, your boy. The deal reportedly is designed to release music by him and his Ambassador Way Entertainment family. Speaking of Donnie, he also recently released a remix to his controversial song "I'm A Hater." The remix features vocals by Chyna White Khujo Goodie of the Goodie M.O.B. I heard the new version, and it's fire. The fun part is listening who everyone in the song is talking about.

Of course you know David Banner has a new cartoon premiering on my girl's favorite channel, Cartoon Network. That's good. I know you also have heard about his tireless relief work for victims of Hurricane Katrina. That's great. He's also in Blender Magazine this month, teaching folks how to do a backflip.

By the way, when Banner appeared on "Rap City" recently, weren't you all a little surprised about which Jackson literary figure he gave a shout out to?

Anyway, don't forget about his latest project "Certified." It's out now and features the hit single "Play."

Alright, Jacktown, until December, I think. Holla.
