BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — A man and woman arrested on a prostitution charge at a Biloxi hotel now face a charge of human trafficking.
Biloxi police Sgt. Aldon Helmert tells The Sun Herald 24-year-old Brandon Rashard Swanier, of Pass Christian, and 21-year-old Amanda Lynn Sepulveda, of Gulfport, are accused of subjecting a woman into forced sexual services.
Helmert says police had been investigating suspicions of pimping activity for several months, which led to the couple's arrest on a prostitution charge March 18.
No details were released on how the pair allegedly forced a woman into prostitution.
Swanier and Sepulveda have remained in custody at the Harrison County jail. Police filed the human trafficking charge, a felony, on Wednesday.
It was unclear whether Swanier and Sepulveda have attorneys.
