MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) — Work to revamp part of historic downtown Meridian will go forward, thanks to a $1.2 million grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
Mayor Cheri Barry announced Wednesday the city has been approved for the grant for a streetscape and pedestrian project in Meridian's African-American business district.
Berry says a formal announcement of the grant is scheduled for Oct. 16.
