It was an exciting start to the NFL season last week. The first week of the season started with Dallas upsetting the New York Giants and ended the Raiders special teams handing a win to San Diego.
Todd Stauffer and I spent the podcast this week talk a ton of NFL football. One thing we touched on was the play of Robert Griffin III, quarterback of the Washington Redskins.
Everyone has spent the week praising RG3 for his play against the New Orleans Saints. Even John Madden said that Griffin was Tim Tebow but can throw.
Interesting that the legendary coach brought that up. The offense the Redskins were running against the Saints was very close to the offense Denver ran with Tebow last season.
One major difference was Washington opened up play book for RG3, which is something the Broncos did very little of last season. No, I'm not saying Tebow would have the same results but it would be interesting if a team gave him a chance with a wide open playbook.
I mentioned Dallas above and the Cowboys need to win this week in Seattle versus the Seahawks. A loss would put the Cowboys back in my same old-same old category again.
Is it just me or does New England just keep reloading that roster. The Patriots defense was the weak link last season and at least against the Tennessee Titans those draft picks spent on defense in this year's draft paid off. It is a long season but if the defense and running game preform like they did week one throughout the season, it wouldn't surprise me to see Tom Brady in another Super Bowl.
Speaking of defense, Green Bay's defense looked like last year's defense against the San Francisco 49ers. Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears becomes must win for the Packers.
The 49ers play old school football. San Francisco doesn't do anything fancy but run the ball and play tough defense. It is not flashy but it gets the job done.
Micheal Vick and the Eagles need to bounce back this week after struggling against the Browns. Things don't get any easier for the Eagles who face Baltimore this week.
Peyton Manning made his return to football on Sunday night. I am not buying the Broncos because Manning only did the same thing Tebow did in the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone was fawning over Peyton but didn't I just see the same thing from Tim Tebow in the playoffs last year. Yes, yes I did.
