JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Gov. Phil Bryant says BP PLC has agreed to pay $69 million more for restoration projects for Mississippi Gulf Coast following the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill.
The money is part of $1 billion the oil giant agreed two years ago to pay for early restoration work after the 2010 disaster. The funds go to Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas
Bryant says Thursday in a news release that Mississippi has now received a total of $82.6 million.
Bryant says the money will go to four projects across the Mississippi Coast. He says each project addressed a critical part of restoration of the natural resource and recreational losses caused by the spill.
Bryant says the projects will go through another phase of public review and comment before work begins.
