JFP Tops 500,000 Page Views

We hit a record for us last month, moving up over the half million mark to 501,166 pageviews in September. Traffic for last month was extraordinary in part because of the circumstances—hits spiked when we were able to keep the website going soon after Katrina hit and Katrinablog was pretty high in Google. What's interesting, though is that traffic also stayed high throughout the month—in fact, the averages didn't go down at all, and our biggest day was 9/29, with 21,025 page views on that day alone. We have 94,547 unique sessions for the month, or an average of 3,151 per day.

As you may have noticed, we're working to do even more to keep the site "sticky" for our Web visitors, including a new set of blogs managed by Donna Ladd, Ali Greggs, Tom Head, Latasha Wills, joining Dr. S's Amazing Sportsblog and Herman Snell's Music Blog. If you'd like to get all those headlines in one place, we also have a special RSS feed for those:

Likewise, we've implemented Free Online Classifieds in our improved online classifieds section and given them their own URL at:

Feel free to use that site to advertise anything you like…we hope to make it a local marketplace for goods and services in the Jackson Metro and beyond. And, of course, we'd love it if you also feel like paying a little to get your ad in the print version. :-)

We'll have even more great web additions for you to chew on over the next few weeks. In the meantime, join the LoungeList if you haven't already—people are learning about special events and even getting some unique offers in the LoungeList that you may not be hearing about if you aren't a member:

And please feel free to let me know in these comments if you'd like things organized in any particularly different way. And thanks for spending time on the site!
