Kim Dilosa, a native of New Orleans and also the curator of this event entitled Young, Gifted and Black: Katrina 10 An Exhibit No Child Should Miss! The Media Ignores Us: A Human Art Exhibit, felt there needed to be an positive event to celebrate youth in New Orleans who are making a difference. The event was held at Crescent City Boxing Club in on August 29, 2015 the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
