High school football, Madison Central at Murrah (7 p.m., Newell Field, Jackson, 105.9 FM): The top-ranked Jaguars face the Mustangs in a Region 2-6A contest at ancient Newell Field.

Saturday, Oct. 3
College football, Southern at Jackson State (6 p.m., Memorial Stadium, Jackson, 95.5 FM): Southern moved the game here in hopes of drawing a large crowd.
