Friday, Sept. 25
High school football, Madison Central at Clinton (7:30 p.m., Clinton, Ch. 3, 105.9 FM, 93.5 FM): This rivalry is less than 20 years old, but don’t underestimate how much these schools and their fans hate one another. … Provine at Callaway (7:30 p.m., Newell Field, Jackson): Are the Chargers, one of the top Class 5A teams in the state, ready to dethrone the Rams as the kings of JPS?

Saturday, Sept. 26
College football, Southern Miss at Kansas (11 a.m., Lawrence, Kan., Fox Sports South, 1180 AM/103.3 FM): Can the Golden Eagles play BCS buster against the 20th-ranked Jayhawks? … LSU at Mississippi State (11:21 a.m., Starkville, Ch. 12, 103.9 FM, 105.9 FM): They say there are no moral victories, but the Bulldogs could earn one with a respectable showing against the seventh-ranked Tigers.

Sunday, Sept. 27
NFL football, New Orleans at Buffalo (3:05 p.m., Ch. 40, 620 AM): The Saints should thank their lucky stars they’re making this trip in September instead of December.

Monday, Sept. 28
NFL football, Carolina at Dallas (7:30 p.m., ESPN, 930 AM): Maybe the Cowboys have finally found a team they can beat at the $1.15 billion House That Jerry Beat.

Tuesday, Sept. 29
WNBA basketball, WNBA Finals Game 1 (7 p.m., ESPN2): The Eastern and Western champions, who have yet to be determined, will battle for supremacy in the NBA commissioner David Stern’s favorite women’s league.

Wednesday, Sept. 30
Major League baseball, Florida at Atlanta (6 p.m., SportSouth, 620 AM): The Braves face the Marlins, the team Atlanta can never seem to beat.
