Dr.S, did you know Gene Upshaw died yesterday or this morning. He was a 15 year NFL player with the Raiders, winner of 2 Superbowls , head of the NFL Players Association since 1983, I think. Most of all, he was Kaze and my fraternity brother.

He was loved pretty much by the current players for getting excellent benefits for them and hated by the old players for seemingly not caring for them. Lots of old players are probably rejoicing over his passing but the young one should lionize him.

I heard about Gene Upshaw's passing last night on Ben Maller's radio show on Fox Sports (yeah, couldn't sleep). He had pancreatic cancer. Chris Mortensen called in to the Mike & Mike show on ESPN and he said that Upshaw's closest associates didn't even know he was ill. Mort himself said he saw him in Lake Tahoe last week and said Upshaw didn't look well to him. Apparently, Upshaw kept his illness close to the vest. I'm a Raider hater, but I hate the news about him even more.
