The Great Debate: Who Won?

I just finished watching it. As an independent, I was very impressed by the Democrats - honest, respectable and decent people with a plan for our country, state and nation. I didn't like any of the repugnant republicans. I"m still waiting on Reeves and Hewes to have a shoot out at the ok corrall rather than on television with commercials. Yes I know neither was present tonite. Thank God they were not.

Bill Luckett and Johnny Dupree were perfect. I'd vote for either.

I'm definitely independent, LW. Being independent doesn't devoid me of taste and intellect. I desire to go forward not backward like Bush and most republicans wish to take us. Should the republicans ever learn or decide to put the car in forward rather than reverse I'll give them a look. Right now I'm just not ready to be carried back to ole virginy.

Dave Dennis and Bill Luckett were outstanding. I felt inspired by both of them. Bryant came across as slick and the "career politician" jabs seemed fitting. DuPree--what a sweet man. I think he'd do a great job, but I'm not sure he will win the primary. Holliday is sharp and you can tell that he really cares about Mississippi's future. Williams is clearly angry about politics in this state, and rightly so. I won't even get started on Broadwater and his karate jobs... hopefully he realizes that he's not on the same page as the others and calls it a day...

Channel 3 says Johnnie Dupree won. Actually, I agree as he seems very level-headed, knowlegeable and determined to get things done. In my opinion Luckett was second with Dennis coming in third. Dennis is frankly the best looking republican I've seen in the modern era in Mississippi. Voting for any republican, in my opinion though, would be tantamount to voting for a vampire over a human, and I can tell you from watching True Blood every Sunday night that every so often the horns and fangs of a republican appear and extend so they can suck some blood from the downtrotten, poor, sick, Christian and un-corrupt. The good book tells us "They come like a thief in the night seeking whom they can devour."

Yes we can despite our enemies trying so had to make sure we don't.

@Walt, I give up. ;-)

@thetate, Broadwater seems a little nervous to me. Maybe the camera spooked him a little. At times it seemed as if he was hunting foe the next sentence. I think DuPree started off nervous but began to relax as the debate went on, and his experience shined through after that. I agree with you that Dennis and Luckett did well; they were well prepared for this. Holliday was the comic relief of the group. I just kept wondering what he would say next. Overall, I don't think Bryant should assume that he has the election in the bag just because he is lieutenant governor. He has some pretty stiff competition.

WLBT told my campaign that the debate was only for those in the primaries and that we would be invited to a debate before the general election.

Many times, candidates are selected for the debates based on the level of money they have raised or, in some cases, the money they are willing to pay the organizers.

Hello, Bobby. Politics in the media is commonly treated as a horse race, so my guess is by sticking to the GOP versus the Dems, the drama would make for good TV.
