"You can dream it, or you can make it happen" are words Kynesha Williams lives by. Williams, 28, is the founder of BeanSprout Benefit, a foundation that raises money for rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injuries.

Williams, a Jackson native, spends countless days and raising money for victims and their families. Her passion stems from her first-hand experience of financial difficulties of adequate treatment and rehabilitation for victims. Her sister, DeLorean "Bean" Williams, is a C-5 quadriplegic.

Bean, an innocent bystander, was shot minutes before entering a party in Atlanta, Ga. The stray bullet came through another victim's arm and lodged in her neck.

"We are interested in linking up with as many SCI-affiliated rehab centers as possible, so that we can help them get the things that they need (for the patients)," Williams says.

At BeanSprout Benefit, Williams' job is to organize different types of fundraisers and events to raise money for BSB. The foundation relies on support from individuals, churches, local area businesses, national and international corporations. All money raised goes toward rehabilitation, transportation, accommodations, and meals for the patient and their caregivers.

The organization has two events coming up: "Recess" will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Touch Nightclub (105 E. Capitol St.); $20 admission. The "Family Fun Day/Benefit Concert" will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Golf World Family Center (5124 North State St.); $10 admission.
