Cooking with Feminists

I only have time to say I LOVE it. Finally some women on Colbert. Now let's get more on The Daily Show.

Fonda and Steinem explain the concept, and the need, for NON argument talk radio. Love them.

Personally, I love the kiss. Some feminists find it demeaning and patronizing, I find it hilarious.

This is hilarious.

How can you tell the difference between a feminist and a woman who is just angry?

Hmmmm...Let's see. Is Donald here angry? Or a feminist? Well, I have my personally answer for the man who meat markets women and then comes to save the day when they act in a manner that, you know, misogynist men love. Tara Conner was accused (while I've seen no proof but rumor at this point) of being a drunk chick who made out with other women in public and table danced.

If you doubt my misogyny accusations, FARK tagged Donald a hero for this and the comment thread went on to say she surely must have blown him for the pardon.

Now he's attacking Rosie's personal appearance, AGAIN, in response to her airing her opinion on the matter.

For the record, Donald, ratings at The View are higher than they've ever been. So no, it's doubtful that ABC would be reconsidering her as host based on the rating system.

As Rosie says, "Sit and Spin."

Donald's angry. He MUST be a feminist. BWWAAAHHHAAAAAA!

Should be personal answer. Damn we need an edit button :)

I love those 2 women. Those 2 have power over me and I ain't ashamed to admit it. I thought Ted Turner had some sense until he gave up Jane Fonda.

My take is this guy is quick on the feet. A good fluff piece! The ladies played along to get some exposure for their business. Is this the thread for DT v RO?

I'll voice my opinion! DT is building a brand called the Trump. And in show biz, there is no such thing as bad press, only lack thereof, aka Gibson/Brit/PH. Like PlayBoy, it was a brand, love it or hate it, promote the brand at all costs to make money <was that really her in a PB costume?>. Trump is a shrewd dude and he's figured out how to promote the "Brand".

And finally, RO makes an easy target. "Everything that wrong with......" . My take, the DT actually sues her <brand making>, ABC has already muzzled her and she may be the next victim on the "View". BW does not like overt controversy, she's catering to soccer moms. Gotta sell ads!

Wow, I get long winded on meaningless topics! Call me the Cliff Clavin of blogs.

posted by Doc Rogers on 12/21/06 at 10:32 PM

And this is surreal, I'm flipping channels while surfing and CNN has a senior legal analyst debating with some hot blond chick (I'm baiting) on whether the Trump can really sue! Followed by photos of some other Miss USA kissing other girls <I'm lost> and lost her crown <tiara>. Man, where has journalism gone.

What would have happened to the revolution if BF was printing gossip instead of news?

Alright EmilyB, I'm ready for the backlash!

posted by Doc Rogers on 12/21/06 at 10:54 PM

Rosie 1, Donald 0. Sorry, but saying "I'll sue" makes him look even more like a weasel than that thing on his head.

This is not to forgive Rosie for the "Ching Chong" foolishness or her non-apology for same (the former didn't bother me, the latter did).

Cheers,

TH

TH, the Trump don't care. It's the brand baby! Where else are ya gonna get this kinda press for free. The new episodes of Apprentice are on the way. And if I can do it while trashing the PC crowd, I just scored a double jeopardy.

posted by Doc Rogers on 12/21/06 at 11:09 PM

AHHHHHHHHHHH! Conspiracy theory. Are they on the same channel???? Is this the new way to cross promote????? Am I spending way to much time contemplating the Trump v DO?

Ya gotta admit, this thing gotta alot of air time. Was on talk R today, blogs, AP newswire, etc... Who cares?????

Doc Rogers, I'll get long-winded on a meaningless topic any day; I just lost a game of x-rated Santa to The Man. He went home with my signed sex book, and all I brought back was some screaming head and some chocolate. Of course, the husband is happy; happy enough to get that book for me, but I was screwed by the game I tell you. A girl just can't get a head. Unless it's screaming.

I'm following it too, and I'm with you. That mop head is using easy targets to build his brand, which is bullshit. It's the same old brand that ugly ass men like him have been building for years. BW and The View better stand strong on this one. I AM the soccer mom, and I'm fed up with this ####. Others are soon to follow. The View's ratings are SERIOUSLY up, so if anyone pulls Rosie over this ####, it's absolutely political and has nothing to do with ads and ratings.

And by political, I mean shutting up some women so he can pocket more money to clothe and maintain his third wife.

TH, she apologized, albeit non-sincerely, for her ching chongery. She does know better on that. She also knew better on the ripping Kelly Rippa bit, and God love Kelly Rippa for handling it with some balls and calling the show instead of this p-word, "I'll sue you" crap.

Oh Doc, I need to prep you on who WAS in that Playboy outfit.

That was Gloria. Yes it was her. She was a Playboy Bunny then came back to write about how they were treated like crapola. She went in with an open mind and left with the knowledge she needed to write a piece outting the Playboy clubs for the degradation of women...being it's employees.

The piece was called "I Was a Playboy Bunny". It proved 1. That a woman can be a hot chick AND a feminist 2. Playboy used the backs (and racks) of women to pad its pockets (saving for Viagra for sure) and 3. Just because a woman works there doesn't mean she likes it. Those women get PAID to pretend to enjoy it.

Just like Rosie gets PAID to express her "View". She's a talk show host. She talks. She's doing her job. Donald, Rush and all the other overfed, over pain medicated and over ego-stroked men who have attacked Rosie personally for having an opinion need to recognize that the media is evolving, and there's room for all kinds of views. Not just a two-sided conflict-driven argument.

You know Rosie's on the board for that new media company that Jane and Gloria are discussing in that video. Fluff piece? Sure. But isn't it all fluff? I love it when Jane sticks some food and Colbert's mouth and keeps talking. I think he enjoyed it too!

posted by emilyb on 12/22/06 at 01:30 AM

If I remember right, there was actually a movie version of the Gloria Steinem undercover thing, with Kirstie Allie as Steinem. Steinem is a personal hero of mine; I actually have a subscription to Ms. I was a little bummed out that I missed her speaking in Mississippi earlier this year, but I'm sure there will be other chances.

As far as the Donald goes, I have always considered him a misogynistic twit and do not consider any of this surprising. I don't think Rosie should be pulled, but her non-apology apology over the "ching chong" thing made me lose a lot of respect for her. "That's just how my mind works" is exactly what people like...well, exactly what people like the Donald say.

Cheers,

TH

Y'all know what. I know I'm sick in the head but I have always liked/been attracted to Gloria despite never getting a good body view of her. This is amazing as I think of it. I generally scope the whole person before deciding whether I find them attractive or not. There is something about her face, demeanor and intellect that I find attractive. Maybe the dog in me is leaving as I get older. My wife had and has this same appeal to me. But I did get a full look before dating and marrying her.

Ray,

I think you are learning that the world respects YOU more for YOUR intellect than any arm candy you can brag on. And you've found a woman who makes you think and challenges you.

One can dream right.....

posted by emilyb on 12/22/06 at 10:08 AM

Yeah, Emily. I seen many more women who has had the same affect/affect too. Vanessa Williams is one of those too. That suddenly occured to me because I like Jane Fonda for another altogether reason.

posted by Ray Carter on 12/22/06 at 10:25 AM

I might add as to Vanessa Williams that she inspired me to go buy a magazine just to read the article about her. And lo and behold as I turned to read the rest of the article I accidentally saw the pictures. I didn't look long too though. The 3or 4 days were long enough. Fortunately, she didn't go down any in my book. She only rose. And she is a wonderful story of triumphing over your setbacks. She's every woman.
