This morning, Arden Barnett announced the music lineup for this year's BankPlus International Gumbo Festival to be held September 20. In addition to the great music, the event will feature a gumbo cook-off. The live music will begin at 11 a.m. downtown at Smith Park.
Live music will feature:
The North Mississippi Allstars
Big Sam's Funky Nation
The Wild Magnolias
Soulshine Family Band featuring Andrew Pates
Fondren Guitars Student Rock Band
"We're tickled pink about this year's music for the festival," Barnett says.
The event will last until 7 p.m. "This is a great event to have in the heart of our city," co-promoter Bill Bissell says. "The gumbo will be judged strictly on taste, no restaurant people will be judging."
Organizers also promise there will be plenty of gumbo on hand all the way until the festival closes.
Tickets are only $10 and go on sale June 20 at 10 a.m. Children under ten will be admitted for free. For tickets, cooking team registration and more information, visit http://www.jacksongumbo.com">www.jacksongumbo.com.
