If you haven't voted in this year's http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/ballot/">Best of Jackson, take the time to do so. If you have a favorite band or musician that deserves some recognition, here is your chance to nominate them!
Last week, I had the chance to check out The Breton Sound and Filter The Noise at Ole Tavern. The guys in The Breton Sound were fresh off a performance at Voodoo, and they brought some mighty fine rock music to Jackson. The show featured some awesome guitar noises and exciting drumming from the band's new member, John Bourgeois. Next time they roll through town, make sure you're there. Filter the Noise brought me back to my days on campus at DSU in the mid-90s. The band played a perfect mix of alternative music from that golden age along with a set of originals that blended perfectly. They are playing all over town, so there's no excuse for not seeing them.
Remember Lily Allen? Well, she's back with a "snarky anti-sexism anthem with a satirical video to match," as described by Mo Wilson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0CazRHB0so">Check it out right here. (Thanks to Mo for the heads up on this...)
