Woodrow Wilson Construction Moving Forward

Verbatim release from the City of Jackson:

UPDATE: Woodrow Wilson Drive Traffic Alert

Phase I of the Woodrow Wilson Drive water main repair project will begin on Monday, Jan. 18. Crews will dig to the water line to take measurements to order needed materials for the repair. There will continue to be a single lane open for motorists. The road remains passable for motorists as crews continuously assess the condition of the site to keep it safe.

It will take an estimated two weeks for the parts to arrive to begin Phase II of the repair project.

During the two-week span, the line will continue to flow as it serves critical facilities. Hemphill Construction is the contractor for the project. The City is finalizing detour and other traffic plans and will provide the information to the public before Phase II begins.

Engineers have designed the repair, which is complex because of the location, the materials for the pipe and the laying conditions. This project requires a custom built new pipe as the break occurred on a 36-inch water line constructed in the 1960s.
