The Reason I Was Hesitant About Earbuds To Begin With

Last night, July 8th, I had an ordeal. One that is as ridiculous as it was irritatingly painful.

It had been a long day of much merriment, and I had retired to my quarters to watch some EVO. What's EVO? It's the world fighting game tournament held every year in Las Vegas, of course! I was tuning in online to watch the finals for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. While I did not manage to find the time to watch the whole tournament, I at least wanted to see the finals of my two favorite games played there. I had my earbuds in so as not to disturb my father and step mother, soon to be asleep. Then disaster struck.

The rubber cover for my right earbud somehow popped off, and the suction that was holding it in to begin with pulled it further into my ear. I realized it was too far for me to get at it with a finger. I alerted my father, and he attempted to remove it with pliers, but the pliers obstructed his view too much, and that's all we had to grab stuff with.

At this point I was starting to feel pain. Ears are not supposed to have stuff in them. It does not feel good. It also made my throat feel irritated and sore. And so we went off to the emergency room, because everywhere else we could go for this kind of thing was closed at 11 on a Sunday.

And basically they used tweezers with teeth for gripping. Regular tweezers would obviously have slipped off of the earwaxed-up earbud. Dear Lord was it relieving to have the thing out. And they assured me my ear looked fine inside, so it didn't get too far in and do damage. It's still kind of sore, though.

This is what I feared years ago. I do not like most earbuds, as they hurt my ears, and I was always afraid they'd get stuck in my ear. Well, GUESS WHO WAS RIGHT? All this time later it finally happened. It was inevitable, really, if you think about it. Newer earbuds are designed to go farther into the ear, and have those removable rubber covers, so it was only a matter of time before they climbed inside people's ears.

So from now on I am just getting headphones that go OVER your ears, because they are louder and instead of something in my ear making me go deaf I can just go deaf from loud rock music. It shall be glorious.

Worst of all I missed Street Fighter. Curses!

I have never heard of this tournament. Is Tekken included?

No, looks like Street Fighter X Tekken was the only game with Tekken characters. I imagine when Tekken X Street Fighter and Tag Tournament 2 come out they will be included.
