my running team and i were en route to the airport and we misjudged the amount of time it would take to get from key west to ft. lauderdale. we found ourselves in a predicament with only an hour until our flight departed and still 50 miles away from the airport. but we had a plan: we squeeled into enterprise, returned the car and ran to the nearest elevator. once we stepped off the elevator, there was an empty shuttle ready to take us around the corner to our terminal which was the first of the drop offs. the boys stayed with the bags while the girls hurried to the kiosks to print boarding passes. we ran through the maze with only 8 people in front of us and quickly made our way past the woman who checked our documents. now with only 12 minutes until our departure, we felt a little more confident that we would actually get on this flight.
then we hit security.
i had the misfortune of being behind the over-accessorized woman. i am a BIG (HUGE!) fan of accessories... but not at the airport. this lady had a large carry on bag with a laptop, 3 bags of medications, a belt, earrings, 14 bracelets, her purse, a hat, a scarf, a flowy skirt and lace up wedges. and i'm not kidding. i was doing a dance behind her in line to impress upon her that i was in a hurry but she never acknowledged me. the seconds in that line felt like minutes and i was lacking patience. once we made it through the x-ray machine, i slipped my feet into my loosely laced nike dunks and left her in my dust. just as we arrived to our gate, we heard the final boarding call for the sullivan party.
yes. we made it.
long story short: everyone in the security line can appreciate a gal who is chic AND EFFICIENT!
