Point Of Order: Hip, Hip, Hurrah! ! ! ! ! Rick Whitlow has been declared the Republican nominee for the position of Mayor of the City of Jackson. Rick will face the democrat nominee selected in the May 3, 2005, primary election. The General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2005. A period of Renaissance awaits the City of Jackson with a Whitlow victory!
Support: We must double our fundraising efforts. In order to mount a strong, aggressive campaign against the Democrat nominee we must begin implementing our campaign plan today! A great thank you is extended to those who have been early contributors. Your support has enabled us to purchase materials to get our message to the voters. We need your continued support and the generous financial support of others is needed to enable the campaign to adequately prepare for the Democrat onslaught. You can make a secure donation online at www.rickwhitlowformayor.com or by mail to Post Office Box 1202, Jackson, MS 39215. Checks should be made payable to the Committee to Elect Rick Whitlow.
Leadership Matters: FLOOD CONTROL IS IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US! I read, with great interest, a recent article written by Senator Trent Lott about the lack of flood plan for the City of Jackson. Senator Lott mentioned that he and Senator Thad Cochran have been encouraging local officials to decide on a flood plan as soon as possible. Senator Lott also stated that he and Senator Cochran are very proactive with all Mississippi flood control efforts and stand ready to help whenever a plan is chosen, and presented. When elected, I will spearhead an initiative to move forward quickly to create an environment where the Army Corp of engineers and local government entities address this serious matter before the Metro area gets hit with another major flood similar to 1979. When I get elected, we will be decisive and work with other stakeholders to immediately begin developing a flood control plan. Whether it is the levee system, or Two-Lakes project, we must decide. If we never start, we’ll never finish. We must move on this matter as soon as possible and before it is too late. “Leadership Matters”
Trailbits: Rick attended the Ward 3 City Council debate and left extremely impressed with the choices of candidates available to the voters in that Ward. The City of Jackson would benefit greatly from the leadership of either of the participants who shared their vision and plans for a better Ward 3 and City of Jackson.
Rick is working hard on the Campaign trail, so if you see him out and about, don’t hesitate to talk to him, share your concerns, your ideas for solutions or just say hello.
WLBT-TV3 will host a debate for the party primary candidates on April 22, 2005. Details are still being worked. We’ll keep you informed.
Website: Individuals can learn more about the candidate and sign up for future newsletters on the website at www.Rickwhitlowformayor.com
