Leslie B. McLemore (D) / Incumbent

Bio
Leslie B. McLemore received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and Economics at Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and received his Masters in Political Science at Atlanta University. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Government. He was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Harvard and John Hopkins.

McLemore is a Professor of Political Science at JSU, was a Founding Chair of the Fannie Lou Hamer National Institute on Citizenship and Democracy, a Dean of the Graduate School and Founding Director of the Office of Research Administration, and was Acting Director of the JSU Center.

He's received Certificates of Commendation and Appreciation for Outstanding Leadership for both the Council of Historically Black Graduate Schools and as the Dean and Founding Director of the Office of Research Administration.

He has acted a member of the Jackson City Council, Ward 2, since 1999.
