Food Truck Friday, a weekly event series in which local food trucks gather to sell lunch items in downtown Jackson's Smith Park, returned on Oct. 7 for its first event since May. Another event is scheduled for Oct. 21.

"Last year, we were testing the waters to see what kind of response the event got," Theresa Kennedy, quality of life program manager for the Greater Jackson Arts Council, said. "It proved to be an overwhelmingly positive response, and people expressed that they wanted something like this to happen more often. There is a growing population of food trucks in Jackson, but especially in summer time, people don't often go out looking for them because of the heat, so it's good to be able to get a lot of them in one place."

The Oct. 21 event will feature Southern Wangz, Green Ghost Tacos, Small Town Treats, One Guy Steak and Chicken, Grant's Kitchen, Hog Heaven and Deep South Pops.

Local food trucks that want to participate in Food Truck Friday can contact Kennedy at 601-960-1557 ext. 222 or email [email protected].
