— Capital City Beverages is spending the whole week welcoming Memphis, Tenn., craft-beer maker Wiseacre Brewing Company to Jackson with a series of launch parties starting Wednesday, July 13, at 6 p.m. at The Bulldog (6111 Ridgewood Road).

Wednesday's event will feature several of Wiseacre's core brands on tap, including Tiny Bomb American Pilsner, Ananda India Pale Ale, Tarasque Saison, Adjective Animal Double India Pale Ale and "Gotta Get Up to Get Down" Coffee Milk Stout. Staff from Wiseacre will be on hand to talk about their products and will hold a giveaway of assorted Wiseacre merchandise. Capital City Beverages will also allow any attendees who purchase a pint of beer at the event to keep their glass.

Thursday will feature events at both Saltine Oyster Bar (622 Duling Ave.) from 5 to 8 p.m. and LD's Beer Run (5006 Parkway Dr.) from 7 to 9 p.m. On Friday, there will be an event at the Fondren location of Hops & Habanas (2771 Old Canton Road) from 4 to 7 p.m. and a sampling at The Fresh Market (1000 Highland Colony Pkwy., Ridgeland) from 4 to 6 p.m.

Lake Harbour Massage Therapy Comes to Ridgeland

Hong Jiang, a licensed massage therapist, recently opened Lake Harbour Massage Therapy (733 Lake Harbour Drive, Suite G, Ridgeland) and is offering $10 off all services in honor of the opening. Lake Harbour Massage Therapy offers body and foot massages, Swedish and deep tissue massages, Acupoint Pressure and suction-cupping therapy, and more.

Sessions for all services range from 30 minutes for $50 to up to two hours for $130. All foot reflexology services include a free 10-minute soak. Walk-ins are welcome, and gift certificates are available.

Dog Days of Summer with CARA

Community Animal Rescue and Adoption recently announced its biggest fundraiser of the year, the ninth annual Dog Days of Summer, which the Petco Foundation is sponsoring. The event will be Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pelahatchie Shore Park on the reservoir. More than 1,600 people attended the event last year.



The event will include box lunches from Outback Steakhouse for $5, a children's carnival with activities such as a petting zoo and face painting, a performance from magician and balloon artist Robert Day, arts and crafts vendors, dog-agility and obedience demonstrations, a pet parade, a silent auction, adoptable CARA dogs and more. The Penguin Closing for Summer Renovations

The Penguin Restaurant & Bar closed Friday, July 8, at 3 p.m. for the start of summer renovations. The restaurant will reopen in fall 2016. A posting on the restaurant's Facebook page promises a fresh new look and new menu items when the restaurant reopens.
