Four Suspects Charged in Aggravated Assault Case

— Saturday, Jackson Police officers responded to a shooting on Mosley Avenue near Stillwood Drive. Upon their arrival, JPD learned that the suspects and victim were shooting at each other. In an official JPD press release, it was stated that the victim was shot twice after a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and suspects. Three handguns were recovered from the scene, along with the suspects.

The press release named the victim, William Butler, 26. The four suspects are Karunta Casnel, 21; Jeremy Johnson, 24; Walter Thompson, 24; and Quinten Ferguson, 25.

The suspects were charged with aggravated assault and were expected to appear in Municipal Court at 9 a.m. this morning.

Last week's Comstat reported that aggravated assault in Precinct 3 went up from 4 cases to 7 cases since the week before. It also reported a total of 36 cases of aggravated assault both this year and last year.
