GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has joined in the investigation of the death of a Harrison County inmate who was found hanging in his cell.
Sheriff Melvin Brisolara says in a news release that 44-year-old John Feller was found in his cell about 12:30 a.m. Sunday with a bedsheet tied around his neck. The sheriff says attempts to resuscitate Feller were unsuccessful.
D'Iberville police had arrested Feller on Friday on charges of misdemeanor escape and second-offense DUI.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says Feller was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday.
