Parlor Market owner Craig Noone died last night in a car accident. He is pictured here hanging off the King Edward sign for his Young Influential photo in summer 2010.

Noone, who opened Parlor Market on Capitol Street a little over a year ago, was driving his Chevy Tahoe when he collided with a Ford Taurus at the intersection of West and Capitol streets at 1 a.m., WAPT reported today.

Noone, 31, was a Jackson native who trained at the Texas Culinary Academy in Austin and in Italy. In July, The Jackson Free Press live-auctioned Noone in the "Men of Character" auction during Chick Ball, a fundraiser to raise money for domestic-violence prevention, where he drew the highest bid of more than $1,000. In summer 2010, months before he opened Parlor Market to huge public acclaim, Boom Magazine named Noone a Young Influential with a photo of him climbing the sign atop the King Edward Hotel.

After cooking in Biloxi, Austin and New Orleans, Noone returned to Jackson to open Parlor Market.

"We have lost one of the brightest stars in the culinary constellation," BRAVO! co-owner Jeff Good said today. "Craig was a extraordinary and different foodie for our market. He brought an entirely different level of food preparation to our market, and I think his mark will be significant and long lasting."

See the JFP Daily for more on Noone's passing.

Too tragic for words. Jackson will miss you so, Craig. I propose that Jackson Warriors adopt a new slogan for building our city into greatness: "Do it for Craig." He did his part so amazingly in such a short amount of time. We are all indebted to him.

I didn't know Craig personally, but I am saddened by this news. R.I.P. Craig and your stamp will forever remain on the city of Jackson. Prayers to the family!

Look how many Best of Jackson awards Craig and his Parlor Market rock stars won after just a few months in business last year.

Folks are gathering at Hal and Mal's today at 5 p.m. in tribute to Craig. Also see this recent birthday tribute to Craig and Parlor Market by Tom Ramsey. it's funny, and really captures the power and personality of PM for those who haven't had a chance to get acquainted with what they've done, yet.

Just had the pleasure of meeting Craig and eating at his restaurant recently, so sorry to hear of his passing. Jackson needs more people like him, and we are diminished by his death. (Minor cx-should say 1 AM in second paragraph.)

Thanks, annymiss, just fixed the typo. And "diminished" is the perfect word.
