The Best In Sports In 7 Days

Doctor S sez: Mississippi State's baseball team has gone further than even the most rabid Bulldog fan expected.

Thursday, June 9
NBA basketball, NBA Finals, Game 5, Miami at Dallas (8 p.m., Ch. 16, 105.9 FM): Unless Dirk straightened out his jumper and the Mavericks pulled out Tuesday's game, this might be the end of this series. What a pity.

Friday, June 10
College baseball, NCAA Gainesville Super Regional, Mississippi State at Florida (11 a.m., Gainesville, Fla., ESPN2, 105.9 FM): The Bulldogs and Gators know each other well: This is their fifth meeting of the season. Florida is 3-1 against MSU this season. By the way, these teams don't like each other. Game 2 will be at ll a.m. Saturday (ESPN) and Game 3, if needed, will be at noon Sunday (ESPN).

Saturday, June 11
Southern League baseball, Chattanooga at Mississippi (7 p.m., Pearl, 103.9 FM): If you really need an excuse to drink a cold beer on a hot night, the M-Braves game is as good as any.

Sunday, June 12
NBA basketball, NBA Finals, Game 6, Dallas at Miami (7 p.m., Ch. 16, 105.9 FM): Hopefully the Mavericks and Heat will take their talents back to South Beach.

Monday, June 13
Southern League baseball, Chattanooga at Mississippi (7 p.m., Pearl, 103.9 FM): The M-Braves and Lookouts conclude their series on Bark in the Park and Dollar Dog Night. Is this really a good idea?

Tuesday, June 14
NBA basketball, NBA Finals, Game 7, Dallas at Miami (8 p.m., Cha. 16, 105.9 FM): If necessary, the Mavericks and Heat will battle for the NBA's ultimate prize. The NBA could use a cause for celebration going into the lockout.

Wednesday, June 15
MLB baseball, New York Mets at Atlanta (6 p.m., SportSouth, 930 AM): The Braves are hoping this series will turn out better than their trip to the Big Apple.

The Slate is compiled by Doctor S, who will be happy when football season starts because he's running out "Family Guy" episodes he hasn't seen before. There are never any reruns the JFP Sports Blog

Nope the trophy, the title and the bling is headed back to Dallas! Lebron James picked the fight with Cleveland, Cleveland didn't pick start this fight with its own child! I can give you toooooooooooonnnnnnnnnsssss of Ohio'ans that are loved and cherished, players who came to Cleveland from places elsewhere, case in example, Hardy Nickerson, a Mississippian, Ole Miss Alum, Hall of Famer, one of the greatest Cleveland Browns! Loved and cherished by the best fans in sports, the Clevand Nation. Lebron James said we (Cleveland Fans) will return to our miserable lives and he will "STILL" be alright. It's o.k. with me how much money, how many Benzs, mansions, jets you may have, but you still don't have a championship ring, HA! Don't mess with Cleveland fans, 'cause it can get real ugly Yes indeed!

...and the "Fat Lady's" song was beautiful! I was hopeful that the Memphis Grizzleys would have been NBA Champs. Dallas was my second choice because I have grands who will remotely benefit from the increase in their tax base. They are students of neighborhood public schools in their community in Plano, TX. My thoughts about James are slightly different from Dwan C's. I'm with Jesse Jackson who said, "They (Cleveland Fans) are treating him like a run-away slave". He brought a lot of financial gains to Cleveland. Would the fans have burned the jerseys of a player who was traded? I don't think so. James is a young talented player who should be free to follow his dreams: He also should be old enough to live with the consequences of the dream that has not yet been actualized: A RING!

When are we going to get some pro football? If we don't have pro football crime is going to go up. Everyone wants football but the cowboys. Without football the cowboys are tied for first place. Duan, I enjoyed the Hall of Fame in Canton until I accidentally watched the highlights of the last Super Bowl game. I found myself hoping and praying Mendenhall wouldn't fumble this time but he did. Cleveland needed Lebron's star power since it's glory days are behind it. Now that he's gone, no one occupies that giant space on the building where Lebron's used to tower over the city. Why not put the O'Jays up there. Had a good time in Cleveland and loved it's easygoing pace and the friendliness of the people.
