Parts of Metrocenter Mall are in foreclosure.

Dowtown Renovations
Eley Guild Hardy Architects celebrated the opening of its downtown Jackson office Nov. 18. The firm moved into the former Union Planters Bank building at 329 E. Capitol St. this fall after a $1.7 million renovation. The building had been vacant for several years after Regions Bank acquired Union Planters in July 2004.

Eley Guild Hardy is the product of a merger between Biloxi-based Guild Hardy Architects and Jackson-based Eley Associates. Guild Hardy opened a Jackson office shortly after Katrina and then merged with Eley Associates in 2008.

Chuckie's Lounge Hearing
A Hinds County Chancery Court judge will hear arguments Nov. 30 in a lawsuit city officials filed against Charles Thomas, owner of Chuckie's Lounge on Ridgeway Street. The city brought nuisance proceedings against Thomas and temporarily closed the bar after a customer was stabbed to death there in June.

Metrocenter in Foreclosure
Metrocenter Mall entered foreclosure this week, WLBT reports. The foreclosure only applies to a portion of the mall and does not include Burlington Coat Factory, Sears or the sections owned by developer David Watkins. The mall has until Dec. 15 to pay back mortgage payments before it will be sold.

Watkins, who has plans to the redevelop the mall as an entertainment complex, did not immediately return a call for comment.

Metrocenter as an "entertainment complex"! That's vague. Does this entertainment include adult entertainment?

No. Do a Google search at the top of the page and find some past stories about the plans for Metrocenter.
