Due to water main breaks in Jackson, numerous schools, government offices and businesses are closed today.

Numerous schools and businesses will close early or remain closed throughout the day due to water main breaks around the city of Jackson. Call ahead to find out whether your destination is open today. Closings include:

Schools

All schools and offices of Jackson Public Schools will be closed.

Jackson State University is closed.

St. Richard Catholic School in Fondren is closed.

The closing of school on Tuesday means that the following events and programs are also cancelled:
• JPS afterschool programs
• JPS athletic events, games and practices
• Adult education classes at the Career Development Center (CDC)
• JPS Adult Education Program GED/Literacy/ESL classes

JPS will be monitoring the progress regarding water conditions and keep parents informed of the re-opening of schools and offices.

St. Luke's Early Childhood Learning Center is closed.

In Hinds County Gary Road Elementary, Gary Road Intermediate and Byram Middle Schools will close for students beginning at 10:00 a.m. Regular bus routes will begin no later than noon. Families may begin picking up their children earlier if they would like.

Terry High School will NOT close as it is not affected by the Jackson water system.

The Jackson campuses of Hinds Community College on Sunset Drive and Chadwick Drive are closed. All other campuses are open.

State of Mississippi offices will be closed; the State Capitol does not have water.

In the City of Jackson, the Jackson Police Department headquarters is closed to the public until further notice.

Businesses

Fondren area businesses and homes do not have water. Call ahead to see if businesses are open.

Sal & Mookie's, Broad Street Bakery and BRAVO! restaurants are closed.

The Jackson Medical Mall is closed except for the UMMC administrative office.

The Jackson Boys & Girls Club locations are closed.
