Weekend Starting Five Plus: This Could Be The Last Time

Sidney headed to State … Corky headed for retirement … Blazers and Choctaws in tourney action … AJC likes Torbush .. So long, farewell.

Men's college basketball: Renardo Sidney signs with Mississippi State. Sidney, who once got benched by the MHSAA for transferring to Piney Woods and committed and de-committed to Southern Cal, will play basketball for the Bulldogs (for a year).

College baseball: Southern Miss baseball coach Corky Palmer announces his retirement. As usual, Palmer did it his way.

Southern League baseball: The M-Braves are expecting their 1 millionth fan during this homestand. Oh yeah, the Biscuits beat the M-Braves 9-2 in the series opener on Thursday.

College baseball: Belhaven 16, Mobile 2. The Blazers scorch the Rams in the first round of the GCAC Tournament. The guys in green play LSU-Shreveport tonight.

College baseball: The ASC Championship starts at Mississippi College today. The Choctaws play Texas-Dallas at 7 p.m. at Frierson Field.

College football: MSU defensive coordinator Carl Torbush is a difference maker, Atlanta paper says. So the Bulldogs won't be all about offense under new coach Dan Mullen.

Doctor S is sorry to tell his faithful readers (both of you) that the Starting Five is going on hiatus. Meanwhile, the Doctor is waiting for Dolemite.
