Belhaven will kick off the 2009 Mississippi college football season on Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Blazers play host to West Alabama at historic Newell Field. The game will be Joseph Thrasher's first as Blazers coach. It will also be a homecoming for UWA coach Bobby Wallace, an alumnus of Callaway High, which plays many of its games at Newell Field.

West Alabama 47, Belhaven 3: The good news is, this is probably one of the best teams the Blazers will play this season. The new uniforms looked good (and that's not the new uniforms in the photos with this article).
