[Stiggers] Welcome to Silicon Ghetto

Boneqweesha Jones: "In the world of home entertainment, consumers pay $300 to $500 for a brand new Blue Ray or High Definition DVD player. In the ghetto, financially challenged consumers pay $300 to $500 a month for an entertainment center—complete with wide-screen TV, DVD/CD player, and 'Bumpin' Bass' speakers—from a 'Rent to Own with Your Own Money' store.

"Will the change to high-definition entertainment devices alienate the poor consumer? According to electronic technology expert Aunt Tee Tee Hustle, 'Oh, heck yeah!' But look out, folks! Aunt Tee Tee has joined forces and resources with the Ghetto Science Team to form the Silicon Ghetto Electronic Community Institute for the High-Definition Challenged. Tell us what we need to know, Aunt Tee Tee!"

Aunt Tee Tee: "The Ghetto Science Team and I conclude that the world of entertainment technology is divided. As we speak, devoted teams of ghetto scientists, engineers, and technicians are recycling, rebuilding, and refurbishing digital and analog entertainment devices as well as finding ways to bootleg high-definition signals. Despite technological alienation from corporations, members of the Silicon Ghetto Electronic Community Institute for the High-Definition Challenged will use resourcefulness and innovation to provide poor folk with truly affordable entertainment devices."

Boneqweesha Jones: "And poor folk can use regular DVDs and CDs?"

Aunt Tee Tee: "Yes, indeed!"

Boneqweesha Jones: "I'll break it down like Jesse Jackson, or perhaps Gloria Gaynor: Despite the high-definition divide, poor folk might survive.

"Boneqweesha on the scene reporting."

The switch from analog to digital could be a strain to some since their TVs won't be able to pick up regular broadcasts any more. I heard that adapters will be made available for the switch, and they will cost around $50.
