Who said pot dealers aren't creative?

The Smoking Gun is carrying an article concerning the busting of a "pot ring" in California

This is just for entertainment.

A California drug operation manufactured marijuana-laced candy and soft drinks that were packaged to resemble popular products like Jolly Ranchers, Milky Way, and Pop Tarts. The pot ring, busted yesterday by Drug Enforcement Administration agents, was headquartered in Oakland and allegedly headed by Kenneth Affolter, 39, who was one of 12 alleged dealers nabbed. DEA raids at indoor pot-growing facilities turned up the marijuana-infused products, which carried labels such as Toka-Cola, Pot Tarts, Puff-A-Mint Pattie, Stoney Ranchers, Munchy Way, and Buddahfinger.

This entire article is worth looking at the picture of the carefully photoshopped candy wrappers screaming things like "KeefKat" instead of "Kit Kat" and my personal favorite "Buddhafinger."

Oh, Lord! Why can't they use their powers for good? :-P I bet some "munchified" pot addicts bought it by the ton.

I swear if they could channel their creativity somewhere else, we could solve the energy crisis. Have you seen the gadgets serious pot smokers have? It LOOKS just a regular old cup, like the boy scouts carry to campsites, but inside.... Or maybe that's NOT for pot. I could have the "recreational" drugs confused. There's nothing like a man with a bong collection to make me swoon. (THAT was sarcasm :P)

The actual fact that children are at risk because of this "candy" is a real serious issue. On the other hand though I cannot stop laughing! The things that people do when it comes to illegal activities never ceases to amaze me! "I swear if they could channel their creativity somewhere else, we could solve the energy crisis." I agree 110% with you on this emilyb, but that would be too much like perfect, huh?

It would be even more perfect if they'd quit spending on that money on drugs and more of it on buying me jewelry, but I'm self-indulgent :P However, the jewelry WILL retain it's value. Strong investment over the buddhafinger I'm thinking.

The actual fact that children are at risk because of this "candy" is a real serious issue. That's why parents need to keep telling their children not to take candy from strangers, but that may have to be upgraded to not taking candy from ANYBODY if people keep doing stupid stuff like this. Idiots take all the fun away from us do-gooders. ;-)

I know I'm super-late to this thread, but my understanding is that all of these products were used to treat people with conditions like cancer or AIDS, which make it difficult to hold down a meal. The federal government's war on medical marijuana in states that have authorized it--in California, through a proposition--puts the lie to the old Republican hoax that they are for federalism. They are for federalism when it suits them--they do not want the federal gov to intervene to protect African-American voting rights, for instance--and they are against it on matters like this. Sheer opportunism.
