[Stiggers] Working For Mr. Cholly

Febuary 1, 2006

Boneqweesha: "It's Boneqweesha live, covering the grand opening of the Let Me Hold Five Dollars Insurance Company's Daddy McBride memorial building. I'm with Daddy McBride, patriarch of the McBride family and inspiration for L.M.H.F.D. Insurance Company. Daddy, I know that you and the McBride family are proud of this achievement today."

Daddy McBride: "Yes, we're proud because we invested in people."

Boneqweesha: "Investing in people is risky, Daddy. How did you benefit?"

Daddy McBride: "I did it by suffering from mis-education because folk withheld information, enduring hatred, ridicule, humiliation and discrimination while defending this nation, and working five jobs to pay for my kid's education. Despite what happened, I maintained my patience and invested in people. Also, I watched Momma McBride labor for many years cleaning Mr. Cholly's house and caring for Miss Ann's kids. Momma and I told our children that they must work twice as hard to be somebody in this world. And even though most people will fail you, continue to make investments. One day, the benefits will come. Then Cootie, Rudy, Judy and Tootie covered their ears, as I sang the lyrics from a Clarence Carter song:

Patches, I'm depending on you son
To pull the family through
My son, it's all left up to you."

Boneqweesha: "Daddy McBride, if I had to endure the 'Patches' song every night, I, too, would be quite motivated to invest in people. Bonqweesha on-the-scene reportin'!"

This is great. I don't know whether to laugh, cry or do both. Great irony, humor, and story telling. You win an award for this.
