"Alsace to America"

Jews immigrated to Mississippi from Alsace and Lorraine throughout the 19th century. This exhibit reflects the life and times of these pioneers, why they left France and Germany, and how they became an integral part of the historical fabric of their chosen communities in America. "Kinetic Vapor"
Sep 14 – Dec 31.
The artwork is made from aluminum wall panels, reflected natural light, and color-shifting LEDs that span a 100’ x 9’6” section of the mezzanine wall overlooking the Jackson Convention Complex’s east lobby. It was created by NunoErin, a Jackson arts studio.

Jackson, Miss – The Mississippi Library Commission kicked off its 2012 art exhibits with local artist, Richard McKey and sculptor, Casey Parsons. The two-month exhibit will run from Tuesday, January 3, thru Monday, February 27. A reception is planned for Thursday, February 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mississippi Library Commission, 3881 Eastwood Drive, on the grounds of the Mississippi Education and Research Center in Jackson. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

River to the Rails Festival

On Front and Howard streets. Main Street Greenwood hosts the annual event that includes music, a barbecue completion, a pet parade, an art show and food vendors. The festival starts May 4 at 5 p.m. and May 5 at 9 a.m.
